Cleaner air 'adds months to life'


Cuts in air pollution in US cities have added an average of five months of life to their inhabitants, research suggests

Pitt is up for best actor for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has emerged as the frontrunner for this year's Oscars with 13 nominations.
Slumdog Millionaire, from Britain's Danny Boyle, was close behind with 10 nominations, including best film.
The Dark Knight and Milk received eight nominations, with the late Heath Ledger receiving a best supporting actor nod.
Meryl Streep scored a 15th Oscar nomination for her role in the film Doubt, alongside Kate Winslet for best actress in Stephen Daldry's The Reader.
Benjamin Button and Slumdog Millionaire were joined by Milk, The Reader and Frost/Nixon as contenders for the coveted best picture prize.

Selling pressure continues at KSE


KARACHI: Selling pressure continued to erode values of leading scrips at Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) Tuesday, as 100-Index lost 22.47 points to close at 5258.28, market sources said. The turnover volume was improved to 142.906 million shares as 114 scrips sustained losses and 130-recorded gains while 12 remained unchanged. Obama to request Guantanamo courts suspended


GUANTANAMO BAY: Prosecutors are to call on military judges to suspend the proceedings of the military commissions at Guantanamo Bay for 120 days at the request of President Barack Obama, documents seen late Tuesday said.
